I've received a couple of requests to show what's inside my kit, so I'm finally doing it! I'll do a series of posts so that this doesn't get too long. This first one is going to be about face products!

It's 2018 and it's time for beauty brands to get their act together. Almost every brand has released a new foundation or concealer in the past couple months. Some with extensive shade ranges, and some without. It's time for brands to realize that beauty comes in all shades, not just light pink, pink, and medium pink. When some brands do have deeper shades, I've noticed that the shades are either orange, red, or ashy. People of color aren't just "brown". They have different undertones like the rest of us. Red, yellow, olive, and even blue. Here are some brands I would recommend looking into if you have a tough time finding your foundation shade.

The Sensual Skin Enhancer by Kevyn Aucoin ($48 retail | $28.80 pro) is a staple among many makeup artists because of its versatility. It can be sheered out to a tinted moisturizer, or built up to be full coverage while still looking natural; it can also be used as a concealer. This tiny little jar packs a huge punch.

IMATS happened in Los Angeles recently and it was crazy. The first and last time I went was in 2015. I didn't get to attend or work in 2016, but I worked at The Makeup Show and PHAMExpo, which were pretty cool too. I was excited to work this year because I got to bring my friend and assistant Ashely, who has never been to a makeup trade show. I wanted to show her ALL THE THINGS. I was also excited because I wanted to get specific things for my kit that I don't want to get online, like brushes. I'm extremely picky with brushes, so I have to touch and feel them before buying. Nothing is worse than ordering brushes online and finding out it's not what you expected. 

Becca is the queen of glowing skin and she recently launched a new foundation that is the definition of dewy. The Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation is one of the best dewy, light coverage foundations on the market right now. And, it's one that works on all skin types, including oily skin. 

Viseart recently released 3 new palettes for Spring 2016 that will be part of their permanent line called the Theory Palettes and they're so adorable. Today I'll be reviewing the Minx palette, which features luxurious warm tones. These are available now on Muse Beauty and Sephora. 

After a year of seeing and hearing people rave about the Viseart eyeshadow palettes, I had to try it for myself. While I was in Chicago, I was staying with my friend Sophia and she let me use it on her and I was blown away. The pigmentation and blendability (is that even a word) are absolutely amazing. And dare I say, these are the best eyeshadows on the market right now. 

This is my first time purchasing a luxury product for myself and I do not regret it at all. Dior's latest collection for spring 2016, named Glowing Gardens, contains pastel colored eye shadows and nail polish, which didn't really catch my eye. Of course, I was drawn to this beautiful powder instead. The compact itself is reflective silver (meaning it will get fingerprinty) and it has a quilted design. All of the Dior Nude Air powders have the exact same packaging. The powder inside is breathtaking. It has the word "NUDE" embossed as well as flowers in the back. It's just too pretty to use.
